Do The Thing is currently available for iPhone users on Apple's App Store.
Unfortunately, no. I know people are mad. All I can say is, try not to take it personally. I want web and Android versions with cross-platform syncing as much as the next guy. As soon as I can offer it, I will.
However, I'm a single developer. Do The Thing is my passion project. I don't have the skills or resources to bring the app to platforms outside iOS at this time. An App Store release (i.e. getting the iOS app out of beta) will be the first step to changing that.
You can't.
Do The Thing is based on David Allen's Getting Things Done. Under this model, any next action can be done at any time, given the right context. If a task requires you to do something else first, it's not a next action. Do The Thing determines the order of your next actions list based on factors like priority, expiration date, and how long ago you added a task to the list.
I'm working on some ideas to make this clearer and easier. Future versions of Do The Thing may include a new task status specifically for blocked/deferred/future tasks, with an option to automatically move them to next actions as their blockers are completed. For now, I recommend using the Reference/Notes status to store tasks that can't be done yet. If you need to preserve the order, try a numbered list in the Notes field of a single Reference/Notes task.
The home screen calendar uses Apple’s built in calendar tools, so when users experience issues it’s usually due to two factors:
Permissions. Do The Thing requires permission to access your system calendars. You can check this in your Settings app, or just go to the Tools tab in Do The Thing, select Choose Calendars, and see what it says. If it gives a message about not having access to your calendars, that is probably your issue. Go to your Settings app, search for Do The Thing, and grant full access to your calendars.
The calendar you want is not selected. If you do see a list of calendars when you go to the Choose Calendars page, make sure the ones you want are checked and the ones you don’t want are unchecked. This list determines what is displayed on the home screen.
Contexts can be added, edited, deleted, or merged via the Tools tab.
Not yet! I really want this feature, too. Fortunately, a lot of the infrastructure already exists behind the scenes. It'll take a little while to do it right, but rest assured, you will see snooze-able tasks in the future.
Nope, sorry. New installs of Do The Thing include a starter task with some basic information. I'd love to have a series of tutorial videos, but Do The Thing is not my full-time job and I need to prioritize work on the actual app over supplementary content.
